Spencer Fearn’s career has taken him from the boardroom to the pitch, and now to bookshelves! In his new book, ‘Buying the Worst Football Club in Britain’, he shares his remarkable true story of buying the worst football club in Britain (East Stirlingshire FC) and transforming it from a perennial bottom-of-the-league side into playoff contenders.
The book is a story filled with colourful characters, brushes with Glasgow gangsters, moments of triumph, and plenty of laughs. It isn’t just about football; at its heart, it is about believing that anything is possible, no matter who you are or where you come from.

Over four seasons, Spencer’s ownership saw the club’s fortunes change from record losses to playoff semi-finals, increased attendances, and a renewed sense of pride in the stands. Eventually, Spencer sold the club to its fans for £1, making it the first supporter-owned team in Scotland.
Since selling the club, Spencer has continued to work in football, including coaching roles with Doncaster Rovers, working with The FA, and as a course leader for Sports Management and Football Business at Gary Neville’s University Academy 92.
